I can't believe I haven't posted for over a year! Things have gotten busier and I also forgot! lol Brain is going more and more lately it seems.......plus it seems like a waste of time sometimes cause not sure if anyone but me even reads these posts! Not much to say now, just trying to get by......Ty hasn't worked in almost a month now, so things are tight and stress is high! Hopefully we'll be doing better soon.......constant praying right now!

Happy Birthday Austin

I still can't believe it...my first baby is 5 today! He's going to be starting kindergarten in the fall....Yikes!!! It seems like just yesterday I was in three day labor with him! LOL I'm sure I'm gonna bug him about that when he's older...."I was in labor with your for three days!!!!"...... lol the things mom's say to their kids. Anyway, I got him a Cars scene that sticks to the walls in his room...I'm going to put it up when he's at school tomorrow, and he'll come home to a Cars room! He just loves that movie....I'm still thinking what else I can get him for his family party, which we're having Sunday afternoon. He's having a little party as well at preschool on Thursday for all his little buddies. I'm making chocolate chip banana muffins and I have Car plates, cups and loot bags for the kids. My little man is growing up......next it'll be Kiki going off to preschool in the fall.....my last baby....they grow up so quickly. For all you moms.....do you remember when your kids were first born, and older ladies told you to enjoy them cause they'd grow up too fast? I remember thinking, this is going really slowly, especially on the days when they'd cry nonstop. But now I almost miss those days. Oh well, I love my kids now too.....just less talking back when they couldn't speak! LOL

Scary day in the neighborhood
Yesterday was an interesting day. Kiara and I had just gotten back from grocery shopping, and Austin was at preschool. I was making lunch and Kiki was watching a movie, when I heard a knock at the door....and the doorbell rang at the same time. I thought that was a bit odd, but I opened the door anyway.....to see a policeman standing there. He said that there was a gun incident on our block and told me that I had to leave right away. I ran back to the kitchen and turned off the stove, grabbed Kiki, put her coat and shoes on, and left the house. My adrenaline was pumping like crazy, and as we were leaving, I saw that policeman running around the side of our house! As I drove along our street, I saw at least 10 cop cars on either side. There was also a cop car blocking half of the street going towards our house, and directing traffic down a side street. I drove to Austin's preschool and waited for 45 minutes til he was done. I was telling one the mom's that I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to go home, because they might still have the road blocked off. She offered for us to be able to come over if we needed to, and gave me her number. So we drove home, and all the ruckus was finished....or so we thought. I unlocked the door and opened it to see the whole house full of smoke! I ran into the kitchen to see that I had left my tea simmering on the burner.......the tea had boiled over, boiled dry and then the pot had proceeded to start melting!!! What a mess and what a smell! I opened all the windows....thankfully it was a beautiful day......but it still stinks like crazy!! It's gonna take a long time to get the smell out I think. What a crazy day!

Christmas!
Whew! As much as I love Christmas, I am kinda glad it's over! It was a crazy time of shopping, and wrapping, and then cleaning and packing. Then flying to Alberta for a great week with family, and then flying back with 2 added suitcases and 4 tired but happy kids. We spent the week with my parents, bro and fiance, as well as travelling north of Calgary to Sundre to my aunt's house for Boxing Day. I had a spa day with Tash (my soon to be sis-in-law) which was a total blast! I received a digital camera (FINALLY! LOL ) from Ty for Christmas, so I took a ton of pictures while there. The kids were totally and utterly spoiled rotten by family, so I didn't buy much this year. The day before we left for Alberta we had supper and presents at Ty's mom's place, and that's when it all started. As soon as I got home from Alberta I tore through both kids rooms and gave away a ton of stuff to make room for all the new. I'm trying to relax now after all the unpacking and organizing and getting rid of....and grocery shopping, as we had hardly any food when we got back! lol I love Christmas and the reason for the season....Jesus! I'll post some pics soon.

Storm
All day yesterday we were subjected to hard rain and strong winds....Ty said he heard on the radio that the winds got up to 90km an hour! It was crazy, so the kids and I stayed home all day. Poor Ty had to work in it, and he said that the paper they were trying to lay down for the roof kept blowing away. He was on his way home, when he decieded to stop at his cousin's house for a minute to say hi. He ended up having supper there, when the power went out. That was in Ladysmith, 2o minutes from here. The power went out on me and the kids around the same time.....they were upstairs watching a DVD and I was making supper. It went out and all I heard was death curdling screams and crying coming from upstairs. They were really scared, so I had to calm kids down and find a flashlight at the same time. We lit a whole bunch of candles after going to call Ty at a pay phone....our phone is an internet one, so we need power to use it. On the drive to the pay phone, I had to avoid lots of fallen branches that were all over the road. Ty got home as I was giving the kids sandwiches for supper....not much else you can make with no electricity. All in all, we ended up without power for about 3 hours....we were lucky! I heard on the radio that there was 190,000 people in the Lower Mainland and the Island without power last night, and now it's down to 90,000. But there is supposed to be another storm today and tomorrow, so it might happen again! I better stock up with bread and peanut butter! lol

Working girl
So last week's huge dump of snow and supposed "Snow storm" left Ty without work for most of the week. He worked Monday, and then was off Tuesday. He figured he would be off for the rest of the week, so we were talking about what to do to make up the money lost. He finally phoned his boss and asked if there was any painting to be done, as the have a painting department as well as framing. Dean was happy to hear I was available, and said that there was work if I wanted it. So Wednesday morning he picked me up and we headed to Ladysmith, about 20 minutes south. The weather was not the nicest, but being from Alberta I've seen much worse. That day was the worst one we had, and it snowed quite a bit. I worked the next two days as well, while Ty was home being Mr. Mom to all 4 kids. He had an easy time, since school was closed 2 out of 3 of the days, so he didn't have to be taxi very much. He did a good job with the kids, but it took me all weekend to make the house look like it would if I had been home all week! lol It's Thursday now, and the snow is melting fast! Probably aided by the beautiful weather we had yesterday....it was 10 above! Anyway, so I am now a casual worker for Dueck, and whenever the weather is too bad for Ty to work, I will be. I wouldn't mind working a bit more, but it's kinda hard to find a babysitter that is willing to pick up and drop off 4 kids! I'll most likely wait until September when Kiara is in preschool a couple days a week and then work those days. Well, look at the time! I need to get Austin's lunch ready and get him to preschool! Bye for now.
