Calgary trip
It's been a really long time since my last blog...I've just been fairly busy and worn out since I got back from Calgary. So I guess nows as good a time as any! The flight for Calgary left at 6:20am, so Ty, the kids and I got up at 4:00am in order to drive the over an hour to Comox. It was only a half hour flight to Vancouver, and then a 2 hour layover. Then another plane, this time bigger, with a 56 minute flight time to Calgary. The first plane we were on only had one row of seats on either side of the asile....I don't love planes in the first place, so being in that small of one wasn't my favorite thing in the world to do. But of course, we all survived....me with a little help from some homeopathic motion sickness medicine. Our first day in Alberta was spent at Mom and Dad's house, relaxing from our trip. The next few days were full of time with Nana and visiting a few friends. Saturday was a trip to the Calgary zoo, with Uncle Kent, Auntie Tasha, Nana, Papa, the kids and I meeting up with my cousin Jen, her daughter Kaitlin and Jen's new boyfriend Darrell. It was just the right day for the zoo.....not hot, but not cold. Sunday morning we all went to church, and to our friend's the Regiers afterwards for a delicious lunch. Mom and Dad took the kids home, while Kent, Tasha and I made another trip to Calgary to shop til we dropped! lol Kent suggested going to a movie before we went home, so we took in Ice Age 2...hilarious! The plan for Monday almost was abandoned, cause it looked like rain....but we made it to Calaway Park anyway, and endured only a few minutes of sprinkling, and the rest of the day was beautiful! The kids had a blast on the rides, and I was surprised at how many more kids rides there are compared to the last time I was there. I was also shocked at how expensive it was just to get in the gate....good thing Uncle Kent is generous and payed for us! It was a long day, and the kids were a bit cranky that night and hard to get to sleep. Then next couple days were just spent hanging out in Nanton, playing at the park and in the backyard with Dukey. Wednesday afternoon we drove Nana to work in High River, and continued on to Okotoks to say goodbye to Uncle Kent and Auntie Tasha at Tim Horton's. I'm not quite sure who was more upset about us leaving, Tasha or Mom! lol Tasha and Kiki got really close while we were there. So anyway, we continued on to the airport and left Papa at security. For some reason, our flight was delayed on the runway for 45 minutes, during which the kids were VERY well behaved.....when we finally landed in Van, the gentleman across the asile complimented me on how well they did. Unfortunately, we landed at 7:14pm, and our other plane had left at 7:10!!! That meant we had to sit in the airport for 2 hours until the next plane left for the island. The only good thing was that instead of having to go through Campbell River like our original flight, we went straight to Comox....a flying time difference of an hour. I tried calling Ty from the Van airport to tell him to wait at home, but as I thought, he was already almost in Comox. So he had to wait around at the airport for 3 hours. When we finally did get on the plane and take off, Austin was so tired that he buckled his seatbelt and fell promptly asleep! Kiara was awake, but so cranky that I was so glad for a short flight. We got off the plane and started the drive home, finally arriving around 11:30pm. I was so exhausted for a few days afterward, and the kids were cranky too, but thank goodness they finally caught up on their sleep. Oh, and I have very good news about Austin....he has been out of diapers and dry through the night for a week now! We are so proud of him! That's all for now!
