My very first speeding ticket

So unfortunately today I had my very first ticket. I was driving home from taking Kiki to the library, and I guess I was going a wee bit fast. As I turned to go onto my road, a cop ran up beside me with a radar gun and said, "you were speeding! Can I see your lisence and registration." I was calm showing him that, until I realized that our insurace had lapsed on the 31st of October, and also that I hadn't gotten a BC driver's lisence yet. As soon as he went to his car to write the ticket, I started to ball. I was still a mess when he came back, and explained that because my insurance had just lapsed, he was only going to give me a ticket for not having a BC lisence. Plus the speeding ticket of course, which he put down from $198 to $138. So all in all it cost me $238 instead of $738....pretty nice I thought. I was then told however, that I was going to have to have my van towed home cause I had no insurace to drive it there. I was about 2 blocks from home, and told the cop I couldn't pay a tow truck cause tomorrow's payday and we're broke. Our credit cards (what small credit we do have) are maxed, and Ty was in Ladysmith (about 25 minutes away). So I had no idea how to pay for the tow truck, and then he told me that if they came and I couldn't pay, they'd take the van to an impound lot. Which means I'd have to pay to have it towed there and then for the impound fee. I started getting really upset, and that's when he talked to his partner....he ended up escorting me home! So what could've cost me over a thousand dollars ended up costing only $238. Thank goodness for nice cops! Thank The Lord that I got off so easily, cause we definately couldn't pay that much!!! A bad experience but I didn't let it ruin my day, cause it could've been so much worse! And that's my day! lol

Hi Stephanie. I've been trying to post a comment on here for quite a while now. Also, my computer has been with Kevin for the last week (I just got it back on Tuesday). So I'm sorry about the lack of communication with you. I'm glad that you pretty much got off with your speeding ticket. It's not easy having to pay a HUGE ticket when you're on a tight budget (believe me I know). When Jon and I were first married...we had a few of those. Anyways, I hope everything is going well with you.
